On Wednesday night, December 8th, 2021 the residents of the Town of New Castle will gather virtually for the 2nd Annual Human Rights Day Program organized by the Town of New Castle Holocaust & Human Rights Committee and the Horace Greeley High School Student Club E.N.O.U.G.H. (Educate Now On Understanding Genocide and Hate.) The event is being held in commemoration of International Human Rights Day which is recognized annually on December 10th.
The event will feature keynote speakers Elizabeth Rubin and Sonita Alizada. Ms. Rubin is an American journalist and award-winning war correspondent who is currently involved with international evacuation efforts of thousands of Afghan refugees. Ms. Alizada is an Afghan refugee, rapper and activist who was featured in the two time Sundance award winning documentary SONITA. The speakers will discuss the current situation in Afghanistan and ways the community can help.
The program will also feature remarks by Anuja Joshi, member of the Town of New Castle Holocaust & Human Rights Committee, Helen Harrison, Advisor to the Horace Greeley student club E.N.O.U.G.H., Gabe Adams & Jack Rosenberg, Co-Presidents of E.N.O.U.G.H, Ali Rosenberg & Stacey Saiontz, Co-Chairs of the Town of New Castle Holocaust & Human Rights Committee, Lisa Katz, New Castle Town Supervisor and Ben Prober, student member of E.N.O.U.G.H.
The organizers of the event hope the messages shared during the program will empower the residents to stand up to hate and acknowledge the importance of human rights in the community and around the world.

New Castle Holocaust and Human Rights Committee Mission Statement: The mission of our Committee is to educate residents of all ages and create community awareness about the Holocaust, other genocides and human rights violations. The Committee will work with other groups and organizations to educate the community to never forget the horrors of the Holocaust and other genocides and to apply these lessons to today’s world. The Committee will also work to promote the teaching of the Holocaust and Human Rights in our schools.
