The Chappaqua Children’s Book Festival (CCBF), the largest children’s book festival in the metropolitan tri-state region, will take place on Saturday, October 5 from 10 am-4 pm at Robert E. Bell Middle School in Chappaqua, New York. 145 renowned children’s book authors and illustrators will be participating in the festival’s seventh annual event. Admission and parking are free and the event will be held rain or shine. And, this year we are privileged to have Jarrett Krosoczka kick off the 2019 festivities, as our keynote speaker, at 10 am.
In its seventh year, the Festival, promoting community and literacy will have authors covering multiple genres and reading levels, author readings, illustrator Demos, Book Signings, books for sale, a Gourmet Food Court with “Food For Thought” food trucks from around the region offering great eats. The Festival this year, has expanded its girth to include the Bell soccer field, with the increase in attending authors.
This year CCBF will feature more than 55 new authors and illustrators in addition to last year’s 90 incredible authors, including Seymour Simon (a regular speaker in the Chappaqua School District), Ruth Chan, Padma Venkatraman Jerry Craft, Kate Messner, Dan Gutman, Cece Bell and Lauren Tarshis and many CCBF regulars, including Victoria Kann, Alyssa Capucilli, Bernard Most, Gail Carson Levine, Barbara Dee and Peter Lerangis, among many others.
Fun activities for the day will include the Bubble Bus, art projects highlighting books at the Festival, mural painting, juggling and walking the tightrope, hair braiding and learning a musical instrument. This year, KidLit TV will be filming and broadcasting live from the Book Festival. KidLit TV is the first free multimedia website connecting parents and educators with authors, illustrators and their books.
