Pursuant to Executive Order 203, Governor Cuomo directed all municipalities in New York State to submit a plan with suggestions on how to improve services and increase trust between the police and the community. To that end, the Town of New Castle Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative Committee (NCPRRC) is conducting a survey designed to gather feedback and gauge the public’s experiences and opinions of the New Castle Police Department (NCPD) to inform our efforts to improve community policing in New Castle. The survey is a collaboration between the Council on Race and Equity (CRE), NCPRRC, and the Town of New Castle. This study is a collaborative effort driven by the community, and we want to hear from members of our community who live and work here about your experiences and opinions regarding the New Castle Police Department. Results of this survey as well as input from the public and the NCPRRC will help shape recommendations for changes to the operations of the police department in our town.
While you may have come into contact with multiple law enforcement agencies over the years, please answer the questions thinking only about the New Castle Police Department.
The survey will be open to responses beginning on January 25, 2021 at noon and close on February 19, 2021 at noon. There are no right or wrong answers. Please answer each question honestly. We ask participants to consider events from the last five (5) years when answering questions about past experiences.
Through this short anonymous survey, we hope to hear some of your encounters with the NCPD to improve the current system and promote racial equity in policing in our community.
