Mission Statement
The Board of Assessment Review hears grievances brought by property owners against assessments in the tentative assessment roll prepared by the Assessor, which is filed annually on the first of June. At the hearing, the Board receives information from both the property owners and the Assessor, who is required to attend all formal hearings of the Assessment Board. However, the Assessor does not attend the deliberations of the Board. After interviewing both parties, the Board may request submission of additional data to make its final decision.
Establishment & Term of Office
The Board of Assessment Review was established in 1979. The term of office is five years.
