Use the "Property Damage" type when...
property, other than a motor vehicle has been damaged and the value is not greater than $1,000.

For example...      Your mailbox was damaged
                             Someone painted graffitti on your garage



Don’t use Online reporting if …

  • Your home, business or other building (garage, shed, etc) has been illegally entered and property taken or if it appears that damaged was caused by a person trying to enter a building.
  • You are reporting graffitti that is threatening or is evidence of a hate crime.

 

 

When filing a lost property report...

Description field: Provide details about when you last saw the property undamaged and when you discovered the damage.
Property Field:  Describe the property that was damaged and give approximate value if known. If available attach a photograph to the online report.

Letter of Good Conduct

The "Letter of Good Conduct” is a name check through the New Castle Police Department. The application can not be submitted by a third party. Personal identification and address verification must be shown at the time the application is submitted.

New Castle PD participates in Kind Find.  The Kind Find registration form includes sections for guardians to address the individual’s diagnosis, communication skills, fears, and how to approach them.

Type of Report

You can file a report Online for the types of incidents listed below. You will be provided instructions based on the type of report you choose. You may also be provided with useful infomation on additional steps you should take after filing the police report. If the type of report you want to file is not listed or if you would rather speak with an officer immediately call 914-238-4422, or 911 if it is an emergency.

 

  

CHOOSE THE TYPE OF REPORT YOU WANT TO FILE

Lost Property - Use this type if your personal property, including a cell phone, is   missing and you’re pretty sure it was not stolen.

Damaged Property - Use this type if your property, including a mailbox, was damaged and you have no suspects or evidence to report. 

Traffic Concern - Use this type if you have a traffic concern involving a cronic safety violation or a request for signage. Call the police desk if you are reporting a problem that needs immediate response.

Theft From a Vehicle - Use this type if property was stolen from your vehicle while it was parked in New Castle. If the vehicle was damaged during the theft you can aslo report that using the Theft From a Vehicle report.

property with a value not exceeding $1,000 is missing and you’re pretty sure it was not stolen.

For example...
You discover your wallet is missing while at Gedney Park. You’ve retraced your steps but could not locate it.

You went to use your cellphone and realized it is missing. You've checked in your car and other places you may have left it but can not locate it.


Do not use E-Report if...

  • The estimated value of the lost property exceeds $1,000
  • The lost property is a firearm or prescription medication


When filing a lost property report...

  • Description Field: Provide details about the times you last saw the property and where you may have lost it.
  • Property Field: Describe the lost property and give approximate value if known. If you are reporting a cell phone missing include the missing phone number, make and carrier.

Your Next Steps

  • Notify you credit card company and bank if any account information was lost.
  • Replace a lost drivers license or NY Photo I.D. at the Department of Motor Vehicles
  • Cancel your cell phone account to prevent any unauthorized use.

      1. Did the incident occur outside of the Town of New Castle?
      2. Are you reporting an Emergency?
      3. You are reporting a crime that is in progress?
      4. Do you have information about a suspect? (such as a license plate number or a physical description of the suspect)
