Good Evening Madame Supervisor and Town Board Members:
- The Garden Club, along with our Department of Public Works, has been busy, planning the Hunts Lane/Quaker triangle with low growing shrubs and perennials, with plantings very similar to what is located at the intersection of 120/117 by Walgreens. Stephen Coleman, our Environmental Coordinator and Arborist, has been working with the Garden Club to install a quick connect irrigation system for this area as well. The Garden Club had volunteered to do the planting in this area and contributed toward irrigation system. We thank them for beautifying this area.
Very shortly, weather permitting; the Hunts Lane/Quaker turn lane will be replanted with some trees and shrubs to replace those that have died. We have to bring in a back hoe to help with planting of the trees. The site will require some advance prep. We will need to remove a few of the dead trees and put in a mulch layer to make it easier to plant. Five trees and 30-35 shrubs will be added to this area.
- Quick update on Old Roaring Brook Road: The Commissioner of Public Works had the road graded before the winter, which makes the road much smoother and easier to pass. The work continues on this project. To follow what has been going on with this project, please read previous TA reports on mynewcastle.org
- The Town Board received and will be adopting the Preliminary Budget this evening. This is the Budget upon which the Public Hearing will be based. Tonight, The Board will be setting the Public Hearing for November 26th. A copy will be available in the Town Clerk’s office tomorrow for review. It will be on line by the end of business tomorrow. The Adoption of the Budget is scheduled for December 10th.
- Finally, please remember that the STAR registration continues through December 31st. If you have any questions about STAR, please call 518-457-2036 or go to the State’s website: www.tax.ny.gov My report is posted on the Town’s website if you did not get this information: mynewcastle.org
That’s my report for this evening.
